Other birthday celebrations
Cheng and Buay were the sweetest girls today. (Haha, of course not just today) Cheng arranged to meet up with me at Rivervale Plaza in our Sengkang neighbourhood, saying she had something to pass to me. And then, Buay came along too. It was a mini impromptu fyp mates gathering that turned out to be a belated birthday celebration for me. There was even a cheesecake (my favourite!) and a candle, plus the birthday song and make-a-wish kind of thing at McDonald's. I mean, I am kind of used to them being really nice, but the way we just get together and still have the SAME frequency is still very amazing. Maybe that is because we are the 3 remaining spinsters of the gang.
[Spinsterhood bonds. Not that I'm encouraging anyone to join us. Maybe I should have done my FYP with Pam and Xin, so that I wouldn't be left on the shelf. No, no, am sending out the wrong message. It's good to be in love, we still want you, Pammie.
Haha, I'm just trying to sound REALLY SOUR someone's got (going to get) a boyfriend, hence, someone to carry her bag, to tair to, to run to when a molester tries to get fresh, and most importantly, to bring out as a shield during Chinese New Year so that kaypoh relatives don't go, "When are you going to bring out your secret boyfriend?" when giving out ang pows.
For Cheng and Buay and me, we'll just have to carry our own bags, fend for ourselves when we see molesters, and smile wry smiles that's our ang pow obligation, until we are past age of "secret boyfriends". We don't tair, so it's ok we don't have anyone to tair to.
Or Maybe Buay and Cheng DO have secret boyfriends. It's secret, you know. ]
Cheng bought me a pair of gloves, saying I may need them to keep myself warm since the cold season's coming to where I was travelling to. (Krystal and Cheng are the two people in my life who always touch me with their womanly kind of warmth and thoughtfulness) It's the black leather kind, and they were saying that's my style. Wahahaha... am flattered. I wish! I wish I were so biker, leathery cool. I'm this xiao jie now, I can't believe myself ok. I put make up on to work now ok. I use a ton of beauty products to keep looking youthful ok. Not cool.
These girls. They are really the sweetest things ever. I didn't tell you, when I came back from China 3 months back, there they were at Changi, giving me this warm welcome. Though I didn't get to talk much to them at all, since my family was there, I was positively beaming away with PRIDE at our friendship. Really, to have friends like that, is worth a whole lifetime of work and stress. Even if we drift apart, if we really do, as friends sometimes do, still I'll always remember how they were standing there at the arrival hall in Changi Airport that Saturday night, with a cheesecake (did I mention - my favourite?) and an orchid for me. My auntie annie who was there was saying, wah, your friends are so romantic!
Envy me lah. *smirk smirk*

~ . ~
Busy bee Krystal finally found time to sent us photos we took on my birthday get-together.
I felt more than a tad disappointed with the photos. That is because I thought we all look significantly aged. Oh well, someone was still telling me I look like a polytechnic student. In fact, two someones told me that, in the last 2 weeks or so. A final-year poly student is, what, 20?
I don't think so. I think I fell for sweet talk. Silly me.

I don't look like a poly student, do I? (Tell me I do! Flattery never fails)
